‘Smaller Convoy For PM Modi Is Not A Good Idea’: Former R&AW Chief Explains Why?
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reportedly reduced the size of his official convoy as part of a wider effort focused on restraint and fuel conservation amid the continuing crisis in West Asia. However, former Intelligence Chief Samant Goel has cautioned against scaling down security arrangements during a period of heightened global tensions.
Goel stated that the current international security environment remains extremely volatile and pointed to recent security incidents involving US President Donald Trump as an example of growing risks, even in countries considered highly secure.
He further noted that India continues to face serious threats, particularly from neighbouring countries accused of supporting terrorism, and argued that reducing the Prime Minister’s protection at such a time may not be advisable.
