‘Those Who Want To Leave, Can Go’: Mamata’s Message To TMC After Party’s Historic Defeat In Polls

Following the Trinamool Congress’ heavy defeat in the West Bengal Assembly elections, party chief Mamata Banerjee urged leaders and candidates to focus on rebuilding the organisation, while stating that those wishing to quit the party are free to leave.

Speaking at a meeting with TMC candidates at her Kalighat residence on Friday, Banerjee expressed confidence that the party would recover and regain strength. The meeting was attended by several senior leaders, including the party’s national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee.

According to party sources, Banerjee told party workers to restore damaged party offices, repaint them, and reopen them for public outreach. She reportedly said that she herself would join the effort if necessary, while asserting that the Trinamool Congress would continue its fight despite the electoral setback.

Her comments came after the TMC suffered a major loss in the West Bengal Assembly elections, ending its long tenure in power and pushing the party into the opposition.
