India’s Digital Initiative In Two Wheeler Insurance Sector
India rapidly embraced the wave of digital transformation, driven by a massive and growing internet user base that opened new opportunities for businesses across sectors. Industries that once depended entirely on traditional sales methods began shifting towards online platforms and e-commerce models, making products and services more accessible to consumers.
At first, many customers were hesitant about adopting online services, but over time the convenience, transparency, and speed offered by digital platforms helped build trust among users.
The insurance industry, which has existed in India for more than a century, also started adapting to this digital shift. Earlier, the sector largely depended on conventional door-to-door sales models where insurance agents played a central role. Processes were often slow, claim settlements took months, and policy-related communication was filled with technical jargon that many customers found difficult to understand.
As a result, consumers mostly focused on major insurance categories such as life and health insurance, while segments like motor and two-wheeler insurance received comparatively less attention. However, digitisation has gradually transformed the sector by simplifying policy purchases, improving claim processing, and making insurance products more customer-friendly through online platforms.
