Chennai: A late-night altercation at a private bar in Chennai turned tragic after a violent road chase ended in the death of a woman and injuries to two others, police said.
According to officials, the incident began after an argument broke out between two groups inside a bar in the city. What initially started as a verbal confrontation soon escalated into a heated clash, prompting both groups to leave the premises separately.
Police said one group allegedly began chasing the other in an SUV through the city streets. During the pursuit, the speeding vehicle rammed into a two-wheeler carrying three people, causing a horrific crash.
A woman riding on the bike died on the spot due to severe injuries, while the other two victims were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. Their condition is reported to be stable.
Investigators revealed that the victims were not connected to the bar fight and appeared to be innocent bystanders caught in the middle of the violent chase.
Soon after the incident, police launched an investigation and detained several individuals linked to the case. CCTV footage from nearby areas is being examined to determine the exact sequence of events and identify all those involved.
