Puducherry Assembly Elections 2026: Check Out Which Candidates Are Contesting Which Seats

The 2026 Puducherry Assembly elections witnessed intense political competition, shifting alliances, and several high-profile contests across the Union Territory’s 30 constituencies. The elections saw the ruling NDA, led by the All India N.R. Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party, facing a strong challenge from the Congress-DMK alliance and emerging regional players.

Chief Minister N. Rangasamy emerged as one of the key faces of the election, contesting from major constituencies amid a high-voltage campaign. Senior Congress leader V. Vaithilingam also played a central role in the opposition campaign as the Congress and DMK finalized a seat-sharing arrangement for the polls.

Some of the key candidates and constituencies in the Puducherry Assembly Elections 2026 included:

  • N. Rangasamy — contested from Mangalam and Thattanchavady constituencies
  • V. Vaithilingam — led the Congress campaign in alliance with DMK
  • A. Namassivayam — contested as a key BJP face in the NDA alliance
  • Jose Charles Martin — contested from Kamaraj Nagar

The elections also featured participation from newer alliances and parties including Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, which announced candidates for nearly all constituencies in Puducherry. Vijay emerged as a major campaign figure as his party attempted to expand its political footprint in the Union Territory.

Meanwhile, parties such as Naam Tamilar Katchi and smaller regional outfits also fielded candidates in multiple seats, making several constituencies multi-cornered contests.

The Election Commission reported strong voter participation in the polls, with the campaign heavily focused on governance, welfare schemes, employment, statehood demands, infrastructure, and alliance politics.

Political analysts described the 2026 Puducherry election as one of the most closely watched contests in recent years due to the presence of multiple alliances, rebel candidates, and shifting political loyalties across constituencies.
