‘Deeply Concerned’: MEA Reacts To Middle East Conflict, Urges To Avoid Escalation

India’s Ministry of External Affairs has expressed deep concern over the escalating conflict in the Middle East and urged all parties involved to avoid further escalation and work towards restoring peace and stability in the region.

In an official statement, the MEA said India is closely monitoring the rapidly evolving situation and emphasized the importance of dialogue, diplomacy, and restraint. The ministry noted that rising tensions could have serious consequences for regional and global security.

“We are deeply concerned at the recent developments in the Middle East. We urge all sides to avoid escalation and pursue peaceful means to address issues,” the statement said.

The MEA also highlighted India’s long-standing position in favour of peaceful resolution of conflicts through diplomatic engagement and international cooperation. Officials stressed that protecting civilian lives and maintaining regional stability should remain the top priority for all stakeholders.

The conflict has triggered global concern amid fears of wider instability in the region, which remains strategically important for energy supplies, international trade, and geopolitical security. Several countries and international organizations have also appealed for restraint and de-escalation.

India maintains close diplomatic and economic ties with multiple countries in the Middle East and has a large expatriate community living and working across the region. Officials said the government is closely monitoring the safety and welfare of Indian citizens and remains in contact with relevant authorities.

The MEA advised Indian nationals in affected areas to remain cautious, follow local security advisories, and stay connected with Indian embassies and consulates for updates and assistance if required.

Experts noted that instability in the Middle East can have broader economic implications, including fluctuations in global oil prices, disruptions in trade routes, and increased geopolitical uncertainty.

India has consistently advocated balanced diplomacy and peaceful engagement in international conflicts while maintaining strategic relations with key nations in the region. The government has often emphasized the importance of dialogue and respect for international law in addressing complex geopolitical disputes.

As tensions continue to evolve, global attention remains focused on diplomatic efforts aimed at preventing further escalation and restoring stability in the Middle East.
