Bengaluru Airport Records 13% Growth In Agri-Cargo Movement While Serving Millions Of Passengers In 2025

Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru has reported a significant 13% growth in agri-cargo movement in 2025, highlighting the airport’s expanding role as a major logistics and export hub while continuing to serve millions of domestic and international passengers.

According to airport officials, the rise in agri-cargo traffic reflects growing demand for the export of fresh fruits, vegetables, flowers, and other perishable agricultural products from Karnataka and neighbouring states to global markets. The airport has increasingly become a critical gateway for agricultural exports due to its modern cargo infrastructure and improved cold-chain logistics facilities.

Officials stated that the airport handled a substantial increase in shipments of perishables during the year, helping farmers, exporters, and agri-businesses connect with international buyers more efficiently. The expansion in cargo movement is also being attributed to stronger air connectivity, streamlined logistics operations, and rising global demand for Indian agricultural produce.

At the same time, Bengaluru Airport continued to witness heavy passenger traffic in 2025, serving millions of travellers across domestic and international routes. The airport remains one of India’s busiest aviation hubs, catering to the growing travel demand driven by business, tourism, and technology sectors.

Airport authorities said investments in cargo infrastructure, automation, and sustainability initiatives have contributed to operational efficiency. Enhanced warehousing facilities and temperature-controlled handling systems have helped maintain product quality during transportation, particularly for sensitive agricultural goods.

Industry experts believe the growth in agri-cargo movement underlines Bengaluru Airport’s strategic importance in supporting India’s agricultural exports and strengthening supply chain networks. Karnataka, known for its horticulture and floriculture sectors, has particularly benefited from faster access to overseas markets.

The development also aligns with broader government efforts to boost agricultural exports and improve logistics infrastructure under initiatives aimed at increasing farmers’ income and promoting export-oriented farming.

Officials added that the airport is expected to further expand its cargo handling capabilities in the coming years to meet rising demand from exporters and logistics operators. The steady growth in both passenger and cargo operations reflects Bengaluru Airport’s growing prominence in India’s aviation and trade ecosystem.
