The Karnataka High Court has set aside an order issued by the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) in connection with the proposed Rs 1,125-crore land allotment matter involving semiconductor equipment manufacturer Lam Research.
The case relates to the allocation of industrial land for the company’s planned investment project in Karnataka. The High Court reportedly observed procedural concerns while reviewing the KIADB’s decision and directed authorities to reconsider the matter in accordance with legal provisions and due process.
The development is being closely watched as Lam Research’s proposed investment is considered significant for Karnataka’s growing semiconductor and technology manufacturing ecosystem. The project was expected to contribute to industrial growth, employment generation, and expansion of the state’s electronics sector.
Legal proceedings in the matter were initiated after objections were raised regarding the land acquisition and allotment process. Petitioners had reportedly challenged aspects of the KIADB order, alleging irregularities and seeking judicial intervention.
Following the High Court’s decision, the matter may now undergo fresh review by the concerned authorities. The ruling could impact timelines related to the proposed project until further clarity emerges on the land allocation process.
The case has also drawn attention amid India’s broader push to strengthen domestic semiconductor manufacturing and attract global technology investments into the country.
