SC Seeks Karnataka Report On Actor Darshan’s Plea Alleging Lack Of Basic Amenities In Jail
Supreme Court Seeks Karnataka Government Report On Actor Darshan’s Plea Over Jail Conditions
The Supreme Court has sought a response from the Karnataka government on a plea filed by Kannada actor Darshan, who alleged that he is being denied basic amenities and proper facilities inside jail.
The actor approached the apex court claiming that the prison conditions were inadequate and raised concerns regarding access to essential services and treatment during his custody. The court has now asked the Karnataka authorities to submit a detailed report on the allegations made in the petition.
During the hearing, Darshan’s legal team reportedly argued that certain basic rights and minimum standards guaranteed to prisoners were not being properly provided. The plea highlighted concerns related to living conditions, medical access and other day-to-day facilities inside the prison.
The Supreme Court, while taking note of the submissions, directed the state government to clarify the situation and provide details regarding the arrangements being made for the actor in custody.
The case has attracted significant public attention due to Darshan’s popularity in the Kannada film industry and the ongoing legal proceedings involving him. Further hearings are expected after the Karnataka government submits its report before the court.
