Powerful Super Typhoon Man-Yi Causes Destruction In Catanduanes, Heads For Luzon In Philippines

Typhoon Man-yi struck the northern Philippines on Nov. 16, causing widespread destruction. The powerful storm hit the eastern province of Catanduanes with winds up to 195 km/h and gusts reaching 240 km/h. Thousands fled to shelters, including churches and malls, as authorities issued life-threatening warnings. Videos from Catanduanes showed fallen trees, downed powerlines, and flooded homes. Although no casualties were reported, nearly 400,000 people sought refuge, and local officials warned of arrests for those refusing evacuation orders.
