Iran, Russia “Can Finalise Nuclear Plant Agreements” as Pezeshkian Meets Putin Ahead of Trump Return
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian met Russian President Putin in Moscow to sign the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty. Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Jan. 17 that the new treaty will add “momentum” to their bilateral ties. Pezeshkian reportedly told Putin that the two countries could finalise agreements on the construction of a nuclear power plant in Iran. The Iranian president reportedly told Putin that the document would become a “solid foundation” for relations. The remarks came as Pezeshkian and Putin sat down for talks in the Kremlin, their third meeting since the Iranian leader’s election in July. The new treaty will strengthen Tehran and Moscow’s “military-political and trade-economic” relations, the Kremlin said on Jan. 15. Experts say the move would cement ties between two of the world’s most heavily sanctioned countries. Video: AP/AFP/Reutersn18oc_world n18oc_crux
