ICC Vows To ‘Provide Justice’ Despite Trump Sanctions For ‘Illegitimate’ US, Israel Probes

US President Trump slapped sanctions on the International Criminal Court’s “illegitimate and baseless” probes targeting US and Israel. Trump signed an executive order to this effect on Feb. 6 and said The Hague had “abused its power” by issuing an arrest warrant for Israeli PM.The order says the US will impose “tangible and significant consequences” on those responsible for the ICC’s “transgressions.” The US president ordered asset freezes and travel bans against ICC officials, employees and their family members. The order referred to ICC probes into alleged war crimes by US service members in Afghanistan and Israeli troops in Gaza.“The ICC has no jurisdiction over the United States or Israel,” the order states, adding that the court’s actions had set a “dangerous precedent.”The court faced backlash from the US and Israel in November over its decision to issue arrest warrants Netanyahu and his then defence minister Yoav Gallant. n18oc_world n18oc_crux0:00 INTRODUCTION3:05 ISRAEL HAILS TRUMP FOR SANCTIONS ON ‘IMMORAL’ ICC
