After Qatar Ouster, Hamas Shifts Base to Turkey? Israel Prez “Blocked” From Entering Turkey Airspace

Senior Hamas members have left Qatar last week for Turkey, the Times of Israel reported quoting an Arab diplomat. The move comes after Doha said it was walking away from efforts to mediate an end to the war in Gaza. The unnamed Arab diplomat though downplayed the significance of the move for Hamas, as per the Israeli media outlet. This came after Israel’s KAN public broadcaster recently reported that Doha had told Hamas,”You are not welcome here”, a claim Hamas denied. Additionally, Reuters had also reported that the US was exerting pressure on Doha to expel Hamas over its refusal to accept the truce deal.An Arab diplomat told the Times of Israel that Hamas’ leadership abroad spends much of its time in Turkey when they are not holding meetings in Qatar. Turkey offers a practical option for Hamas, given that the families of many of the Palestinian group’s diaspora leadership live there.
