Suvendu Adhikari has claimed that the West Bengal government has decided to hand over detained Bangladeshi infiltrators directly to the Border Security Force (BSF) following their arrest in the state. The BJP leader said the move would help strengthen border security and improve coordination between state authorities and central agencies.
According to Adhikari, individuals identified as illegal infiltrators would no longer remain in prolonged state custody and would instead be transferred directly to the BSF for further action and deportation-related procedures. He described the development as an important step towards addressing concerns related to illegal border crossings and national security.
The remarks come amid continuing political debate in West Bengal over infiltration, border management, and the handling of undocumented migrants. The issue has remained a major point of contention between the BJP and the ruling Trinamool Congress, especially ahead of key political developments in the state.
Adhikari also alleged that strict monitoring mechanisms are being strengthened in border districts to prevent illegal movement across the India-Bangladesh border. However, no detailed official notification regarding the alleged process change has been publicly released so far.
The statement has triggered sharp political reactions, with opposition parties accusing the BJP of politicising sensitive border and migration issues. Meanwhile, the matter continues to draw attention due to its implications for security and administrative coordination in border regions.
