Ram Charan’s much-awaited sports action drama Peddi has opened with a massive bang at the worldwide box office, crossing the ₹100 crore mark on Day 1 itself. Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, the film has emerged as one of the biggest Telugu openers of 2026 and marks Ram Charan’s strongest solo opening after RRR.
According to early trade reports, Peddi earned around ₹112.49 crore worldwide gross on its opening day. The film witnessed phenomenal response in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, while Karnataka also contributed solid numbers thanks to strong premiere bookings and fan celebrations.
Massive Opening In Telugu States
The Telugu version dominated the collections with packed theatres across Hyderabad, Vizag, Vijayawada, Guntur, and other key centres. Reports suggest the film recorded over 60% occupancy in several regions during morning and afternoon shows.
Trade tracker Sacnilk estimated that the movie collected over ₹51 crore India net on Day 1, with Telugu alone contributing the majority share. The film also benefited from paid premieres and advance bookings, which added significantly to the opening total.
Karnataka Gives Strong Support
Apart from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, Karnataka emerged as one of the strongest markets for Peddi. Premiere shows reportedly crossed the ₹1 crore gross milestone in Karnataka itself, putting the movie among the top Telugu openers in the state.
The film also saw strong turnout in Bengaluru multiplexes and mass centres, reflecting Ram Charan’s growing popularity outside Telugu-speaking regions.
Overseas Market Pushes Film Past ₹100 Crore
The overseas market also played a crucial role in helping Peddi enter the ₹100 crore club on Day 1. Reports indicate the film grossed over $3 million internationally, with North America contributing a major share.
This makes Peddi one of Ram Charan’s biggest global openings after RRR and places it among the elite Telugu films to achieve the milestone.
Fans Celebrate Ram Charan’s Comeback
Fans celebrated the release with massive cutouts, fireworks, bike rallies, and packed theatres across several cities. Videos from Hyderabad theatres showing confetti showers and fan celebrations went viral on social media.
The film stars Janhvi Kapoor as the female lead and also features Shiva Rajkumar, Jagapathi Babu, and Boman Irani in important roles. Music has been composed by A. R. Rahman.
Can Peddi Sustain The Momentum?
With strong word-of-mouth and excellent occupancy during the opening day, trade analysts believe Peddi could dominate the weekend box office and potentially emerge as one of the biggest Telugu blockbusters of the year.
Much will now depend on Saturday and Sunday growth, especially in Hindi markets where the opening remained comparatively moderate. However, the Telugu belt and overseas response have already given the film a dream start.
