Watch | North Koreans Get a New Western-style Beer Bar in Pyongyang
North Korea’s capital Pyongyang has a new landmark beer restaurant in one of its new districts. It follows the traditions of Taedonggang Beer, North Korea’s main big brew. The beer bar and restaurant is in the new district, called Hwasong, east of the capital Pyongyang. It’s one of three new suburbs built in the past two years in a renewed attempt to create more homes in the capital. North Korea’s government has launched giant construction projects around Pyongyang to build more apartment blocks and new districts, including two huge 80-storey skyscrapers. The Taedonggang beer is named after the river that runs through the centre of Pyongyang. North Korea bought the brewery from England and reassembled it with the help of German experts in 2002.Taedonggang beer comes in many different versions. The most popular version is Taedonggang number 2, which is a light lager with a lot of bubbles. n18oc_world n18oc_crux
