Attorney General Asks Netanyahu To Sack Ben-Gvir, US Lawmakers Seek Sanctions On Far-Right Ministers
Israel Attorney General has told PM Netanyahu that he must reevaluate National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir’s tenure. This comes in the wake of allegations of Ben Gvir’s illegal intervention into operational police matters and his politicization of police promotions. The two have clashed repeatedly over Ben Gvir’s handling of the police, with the AG declaring a promotion by the far-right minister “illegal.”The Israeli top govt lawyer has also ordered the police commissioner to halt the dismissal of the force’s top legal advisor. In a letter on Nov. 14, the AG alleged that Ben Gvir has on number of occasions violated orders instructing him not to intervene in police matters. The AG cited numerous acts of intervention by Ben Gvir into police operations.
